GAP Events Support
GAP Hire Solutions supported the supply, installation and servicing of single event toilets, accessible toilets and urinals to the campsite and car parks at Boardmasters Festival 2022.
Our GAP Events Division supplied Boardmasters with the following:
- 576 Rapidloos
- 4 Standard toilets
- 12 Accessible toilets
- 30 Urinals
- Servicing and removal of waste through Tanker Services
Due to the location of the event in Newquay, with capacity expected to reach 50,000 attendees, moving huge numbers of toilets can have high transportation costs and environmental ramifications. Boardmasters were keen to keep environmental impact to a minimum, whilst also reducing their transportation costs.
As such, Boardmasters needed a supplier who could provide toilets that could be easily transported in bulk. GAP was selected as a hire partner due to our ability to provide Rapidloos: these are single portable toilets, which can be easily broken down to enable four toilets to sit in the place of one market alternative.

RapidLoos
In the case of Boardmasters, we were able to deliver the toilets over seven artic loads in comparison to the 28 which would have been necessary if a standard portaloo had been used. Rapidloos not only allow a more cost-effective solution with massive fuel and transportation cost savings, but they also enabled us to support Boardmasters’ commitment to become carbon neutral by 2025.
The build of the Rapidloos only takes around three minutes per unit, which enabled the team to complete build on the 400-acre site over five days with the recovery only taking three days.
The rapid assembly system of RapidLoo PRO, Demountable Portable Toilet, enables amazingly easy assembly of the cabin, component by component, with parts to be handled consequently of a weight of no more 18kg. Furthermore, RapidLoo PRO may be pre-packed in a 4-toilet packaging form, utilising the same space as one assembled toilet.

Janitorial Services
GAP has a depot network of 175 locations stretching as far as Bodmin in the Southwest, only 16 miles from the event site. This allowed the GAP team to be on-site quickly, should any issues have arisen.
On top of this GAP provided janitorial coverage from 4am to 10pm in the Camp Site, Car Parks, Festival Entrances, and in the Build and Protection area whilst also providing additional support to other service providers when necessary. The team consisted of 32 janitorial staff, 10 tankering drivers and five tankering vehicles. The team worked tirelessly in temperatures of 35 degrees to ensure the areas were kept clean and safe for attendees.
In total, 13,500 toilet rolls were delivered and used the equivalent of 607 miles of toilet roll. GAP’s new Foam Sanitiser Solution was also provided for the event. 860 litres were used, in comparison to the 2.800 litres which would been used had a traditional event toilet solution been supplied - a reduction of 68%.

Customer Satisfaction
Cornelia Hammarlund, Deputy Operations and Production Manager, for Vision Nine stated – “GAP Group supplied toilets at Boardmasters this year, across all campsites, car parks and external areas. From the start of the planning process, all the way through to the completion of the event, they have been a delight to work with. Richard Judge, Head of Events, is always quick to respond and has a great attention to detail, which is appreciated. They were particularly helpful this year as last-minute issues arose onsite, and their team continued to be supportive and flexible in taking on work that previously had sat outside of their schedule. Their service had a great positive impact on the smooth running of Boardmasters, which us at Vision Nine would like to thank them for.”
